We want you to avoid getting a parking citation. Please review the parking guidance found on this page (link to parking page). Our full Rules & Regulations give a more thorough outline of what you need and the types of violations we cite (link to that).

Parking operations at UNT are self-funded. We do not get tuition or student fee money to provide or improve parking. We rely on sales from permits and citations to help us maintain and grow our operations to better serve you. We rely on you to learn about parking on campus. Please remember that there is no free parking on campus, even when class is not in session. There is a free park & ride off-campus (learn about it here - link). Transportation options here.

What to do if you get a citation
  • review it on the portal - we have photos in case there is a doubt
  • Pay it directly on the portal or come to us
  • Have 15 days to decide about an appeal but please note the limits on appeal, listed below. Please note: there is no such thing as an automatic free pass for your first citation. However, you may be eligible for a reduction or elimination of the citation by going through our appeals process. We are not able to eliminate all citations upon appeal. In general, there must be an error as to why the ticket was issued so please give us as much information as you can. Our parking staff take photos and document citations to provide quality assurance.
How to appeal a citation
  • Note that not everythign is appealable and there is no free first pass - how else we want to describe it
  • No longer appeal after 15 days; note about student accounts going to SFS and what that means
  • Step by step instructions
