Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Parking at UNT
UNT is committed to ensuring that our campus remains accessible, safe, and navigable for all members of our community. Students, employees, and visitors who require accessible parking have several options based on the type of permit and ADA credential they hold. Individuals with a state-issued ADA placard or license plate can use designated ADA spaces in hourly paid lots, and those with any valid UNT permit receive full access to ADA parking in permit-controlled lots and all of F/S and Eagle lots. All UNT and DCTA buses are fully ADA compliant—equipped with ramps, securement areas, and features that support riders using mobility devices. Where Can Individuals With ADA Credentials Park?
To use ADA spaces on campus, drivers must display a state-issued ADA placard or ADA license plate. Where you can park depends on whether you also have a valid UNT parking permit:

With a valid UNT permit + state-issued ADA placard/plate:
You may park in any ADA space located in F/S lots, Eagle lots, or any other permit-controlled lot on campus. This includes individuals with a lower-cost permit—such as a Remote permit—as long as both the UNT permit and ADA credential are displayed. -
With a state-issued ADA placard/plate but no UNT permit:
You may park only in designated hourly ADA spaces and must pay the posted hourly rate. -
Without a state-issued ADA placard or plate:
Parking in ADA spaces is not permitted, even if a UNT permit is displayed.
Are UNT Buses ADA Compliant?

Does an ADA Permit Cost Extra?
No. UNT does not charge an additional fee for ADA parking access. As long as you have:

Any valid UNT parking permit, and

A state-issued ADA placard or ADA license plate,
you may park in ADA spaces within all permit-controlled lots on campus. There is no special ADA permit or added cost—your UNT permit plus your ADA credential provides full access.
Disabled Veteran (DV) Plates
Individuals with Disabled Veteran (DV) license plates are eligible to receive a free UNT parking permit, but must complete a short verification process. DV plate holders should visit the Transportation Services office in person so staff can verify DV status and issue the appropriate permit.
To use ADA spaces on campus, DV plate holders must also display a valid ADA placard or ADA license plate with the International Symbol of Access (ISA). When paired with the UNT-issued DV permit, these credentials allow parking in any ADA space within F/S lots, Eagle lots, and all other permit-controlled ADA areas.
DV permits are available only to those who are current UNT students or university employees. After the initial in-person verification, DV permit holders may conveniently renew their annual permit by email or phone without returning to the office.
